What are Amstrad CPC?

I started feeling interested by computer long ago, when first home computers started to show up. Computers such as Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, the MSX range and many others.

But the first computer I bought was a Amstrad CPC (a CPC 664, with 64K RAM memory, 3" disk drive and green monitor). I learnt a lot with it, so I feel the obligation to include a few links about those computers:

  • If you want to try a good emulator, to allow you see (or remember) the appearance of the enviroment, you can download CPCE 1.84 (dated 23-Sep-2007) for Dos and Windows, a 290 KB Zip file. Its official site is cpce.emuunlim.com.
  • Another interesting emulator is WinApe, which can be found at winape.net. (latest tested version: 2.0a14, dated 17-Sep-2007).
  • An interesting curiosity: an operating system for Amstrad CPC and MSX, with graphic environment, allowing multitaking and FAT access. It is called SymbOS.
  • At www.emuunlim.com you can find lots of links about emulators for classic computer, game consoles, arcade machines and so on.
Other links, exclusive for CPC (not tested recently):
